Recovery Housing Certification is essential to ensure quality, safety, and accountability within the recovery housing community. It establishes standardized practices that promote a supportive, drug- and alcohol-free environment, fostering successful recovery outcomes for individuals overcoming substance use disorders. Certification ensures that recovery homes meet essential health and safety standards, provide evidence-based support services, and operate ethically, protecting residents from potential exploitation or substandard living conditions. By adhering to these standards, certified recovery housing enhances credibility and trust within communities, encourages collaboration with treatment providers, and secures eligibility for funding and referrals, ultimately strengthening the overall recovery ecosystem.
Tennessee’s Stopping Addiction and Fostering Excellence (SAFE) Act is a critical piece of legislation designed to address the opioid crisis and other substance use challenges by improving the quality and accountability of recovery housing in the state. The SAFE Act establishes requirements for recovery housing providers to be certified by an approved credentialing body, ensuring they adhere to nationally recognized standards. This certification process promotes safe, ethical, and effective living environments for individuals in recovery, reducing the risk of relapse and enhancing long-term recovery outcomes. By encouraging transparency and proper oversight, the SAFE Act also helps protect residents from unsafe or exploitative practices while fostering trust among treatment providers, community organizations, and families seeking quality recovery housing options. This legislation underscores Tennessee’s commitment to combating addiction and supporting individuals on their journey to sustainable recovery.
Certified Recovery Housing offers numerous benefits that significantly enhance the recovery journey for individuals overcoming substance use disorders. Certification ensures that recovery homes meet established health, safety, and operational best practices, creating a structured, supportive environment that promotes accountability and personal growth. Certified homes provide access to evidence-based practices, peer support, and resources that foster long-term recovery. Certification also builds trust among residents, families, and community partners by demonstrating a commitment to quality and ethical operations. Additionally, certified recovery housing is often eligible for referrals from treatment providers and access to funding opportunities, increasing the availability and sustainability of these critical resources. Overall, certification enhances the credibility and effectiveness of recovery housing, contributing to better outcomes for individuals and communities.
The certification process consists of a decisive four-step procedure designed to ensure your success. After you submit your initial application, a knowledgeable staff member will promptly contact you to discuss your specific situation and provide you with the Recovery Is The New High National Standard Best Practice Model.
Once you have thoroughly reviewed this comprehensive model, we will schedule a meeting for an in-depth internal review of your policies and procedures to complete your assessment.
Following this, we will conduct a physical inspection to verify that your property meets national quality standards.
You will receive certification upon successfully completing both the internal review and the inspection, affirming your commitment to excellence in recovery practices.
Recovery Is The New High prioritizes transparency and has designed its fee structure to be affordable for all housing operators. The Recovery Housing Certification costs $500 for the initial location and $100 for each additional location. These fees are collected upon the initial application and are due annually upon certification renewal. Recovery Is The New High does not require an application fee.
Please note that all fees are non-refundable if Recovery Is The New High revokes a certification.
At Recovery Is The New High, we are committed to maintaining high standards for recovery homes in Tennessee. To ensure safety and support, we have implemented a clear and transparent grievance process. Individuals can easily file grievances via email, allowing for straightforward reporting of issues or feedback.
Our dedicated staff carefully reviews each submission. When a grievance is validated, we quickly take action by temporarily suspending the agency’s certification until the issue is resolved.
To promote accountability, agencies that receive two infractions within nine months will have their certification revoked. This ensures the integrity of our program and guarantees that recovery homes continue to provide safe environments for residents.
